There are so many wonderful things to do in New York. New York has a rich travel perspective that includes Long Island City, the lower East Side, Times Square, gay and lesbian museums, the Empire State Building, the Staten Island Ferry and many others. I could probably name off more than 101 things to do but I wouldn't know where to begin.

My first visit to New York I had heard that there are over 432 hotels and 651 attractions. Museums abound. Tours are aplenty and the average person sees for fewer attractions than they had originally planned. Get on Yahoo and check the reviews and sites and attractions that best interest you. Maybe you don't want to do the tour thing. Maybe walking the streets and seeing things for yourself is what's more interesting. Visit Manhattan and take in some shopping time. Travel around a bit by cab, that's an attraction in itself and cab drivers and a great way to guide you through your own private tour. Have them drive you through Brooklyn and East Manhattan.

Walking down the streets and staying in cheap hotels, for me, was fun. I spent my time wisely seeing more than the average visitor. Sharing a bathroom that you could barely fit in with other people was a trip in itself. I loved the museums filled with art. They were a central attraction for me. The city center was great for that.

Central Park was fascinating too. It was one of my favorite things to do in New York.; over a square mile of park, people and things to see without having to buy a ticket. I don't know if it's officially a State Park, but it should be. Tour the park but before you do, read articles and check reviews about what to see. Spend your time wisely.

I didn't get a chance to see Little Italy but I hear that it's a great place to eat. Rockefeller Center again, another great place to visit with more art than your eyes can take in. That's a big adventure in itself. I loved visiting Long Island. That was a great walking tour alone. There are over 164 landmarks to see throughout New York City and surrounding areas.

Admittedly, I was overwhelmed by the immensity of things to do in New York. Where do I start? Which sites, tours and travel is the most important? Anyone you talk to will tell you something different than the next person. You kind of have to figure it out for yourself. It helps to by a book of New York City attractions it will classify and reviews attraction type.

One of my favorite things to do in New York was to visit the Empire State Building. Although no longer the tallest building in the country, it's a site to see. I've always thought I could climb the stairs to the top, once I got there I threw that idea away. The building is immense; one of the best points of the trip.

I have failed to mention many other places and things to do in New York, such as the village, Times Square, and Broadway. How could I forget Broadway? Take a pocket full of money and set aside a few days to catch as many shows as you can. Your life will be filled with splendor and you'll remember details for the rest of your life.

Make the most of your visit to New York but do it your way.
